Gold bar delivered price: why shipping can change the cheapest dealer

Use the same product, quantity, payment method and destination before comparing pre-tax totals.

Two dealers can display different product prices yet reverse order after shipping. The relevant number for a bullion shopping decision is the subtotal for the exact basket and destination, with any exclusions stated clearly.

Build the same basket

Start with one specific matching product group. Note its fine-gold content, purity, condition, mint or refiner, year rule and packaging. Choose the same payment method and item quantity at each dealer. A coin and a bar of similar weight are not automatically equivalent listings.

Apply each dealer’s delivery rule

Multiply the unit price by quantity and add the verified shipping charge for your delivery region. A free-shipping threshold may depend on the order value or destination. For example, a hypothetical $2,050 bar with $35 shipping has a $2,085 pre-tax subtotal; a $2,070 bar with verified free shipping has a $2,070 subtotal. The latter is lower for that exact order, despite the higher item price. Neither amount is a current quote.

Handle unknown costs honestly

If shipping cannot be verified, keep it unknown and do not rank the listing above complete estimates. If stock or payment pricing is unavailable, that offer is not a current comparable result. Tax may depend on the exact ZIP and product; the site excludes tax from rankings and labels any matching checkout tax sample separately.

Recheck before you pay

A price observation can expire or change before you open a retailer link. Confirm the actual product, current payment quote, quantity tier, shipping address, tax and final checkout total at the seller. The comparison tool ranks current eligible pre-tax product-plus-shipping subtotals. The product directory helps you choose an exact matching group first.

For more context on omitted charges, read why the lowest listed price may not be the lowest total. This is general buying information.
