1 g vs. 5 g gold bars: compare the cost per fine gram

A smaller ticket price can still mean a higher cost for each gram of gold. Compare equal order assumptions.

A 1 g bar costs less in absolute dollars than a similar 5 g bar at the same market level, but that does not tell you which has a lower premium per gram. Manufacturing, packaging and delivery are spread across different quantities of fine gold.

Calculate the same measure

For each offer, divide the item price for your payment method plus order shipping by its fine gold grams. For an illustrative 1 g bar at $110 plus $10 shipping, the subtotal is $120 per fine gram. An illustrative 5 g bar at $500 plus $10 shipping is $102 per fine gram. These are examples, not market quotes.

Check the exact item

Compare bullion bars with disclosed purity and fine-gold content. Refiner, assay packaging, condition and quantity terms can differ. The site keeps 1 g and 5 g in separate ranking groups because they are not identical products.

Include your checkout assumptions

Choose the same payment method and delivery region. Shipping may be charged once per order, and a larger basket may qualify for a threshold. Tax is excluded from ranked subtotals. Confirm the retailer’s final total and return or resale terms before buying. Use the premium calculator with your own spot reference to compare percentages.
